Former MÖTLEY CRÜE Frontman Joins COCKSTAR
September 23, 2002Former MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman John Corabi has joined COCKSTAR, the new band formed by MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx, L.A. GUNS axeman Tracii Guns, ADEMA drummer Kris Kohl and previously-unknown vocalist London. Corabi will handle second-guitar duties and will sing backing vocals in the group, which is currently writing material for a debut CD, due sometime in 2003.
"I feel the same kind of magic [playing with COCKSTAR as] I felt when MÖTLEY first rehearsed in 1981," Sixx wrote in his latest online posting. "Last week we wrote and put together six new songs. It's really flowing easy. I'm jazzed about Kris Kohl's drumming. I hope not to take anything away from him by saying this, but he plays and hits a bit like [former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer] Tommy [Lee] used to. We're locking up really good. I feel like we've been in a band before. Weird, eh?? Tracii Guns is never short on riffs and ideas. I'm blown away by him and his positive energy. I've always been a fan, but I guess I wasn't paying too close attention. This little bastard burns. Damn… Up next in the six-slinger position has been Mr. John Corabi. Nothing but sheer cool on rhythm guitar. Ideas for days. Voice from hell and fills in nicely with smoking cigarettes and relentless sarcasm. I love the dueling guitars and double lead vocal ability of this BAND. And by the way, there are no singers from L.A. that I've found who scream like London (our band's singer). He's from South Carolina… And he's a fucking monster."
